Active Learning Club
We’re seeking facilitators (educators, organizers, knowledge-keepers, researchers, storytellers) to design and lead one 1.5 hour-long online workshop session each, as part of our Active Learning Club, between November 15th – December 15th, 2025. Active Learning Club (ALC) meetings invites our community to unlearn/learn together about climate and social justice. This initiative is part of an anti-colonial education platform, called Righting History, created by the climate justice nonprofit, Shake Up The Establishment. Our hope with this work is to help equip community organizers with the tools, knowledges, and skills to advocate for necessary systemic changes.
This Year’s ALC Theme is Shifting Paradigms: Reimagining Climate Solutions Through a Justice Lens.
Expectations for Facilitators
-
Create a brief resource list for participants to engage in pre- and/or post-session (30min–1 hour of optional but recommended pre- and/or post-meeting materials for people to engage in to familiarize themselves with the topic or follow-up post-session, e.g., a few short readings, a podcast episode clip, or activity)
-
Design an interactive 1.5 hour-long online workshop (using elements such as, but not included to: breakout prompts, chat contributions, jamboards, smaller group breakout activities, reflection prompts or other modes of online group engagement)
-
Create a safe, brave and accountable space for inclusive participation (SUTE team members will provide some guidelines to support and be available to offer support/guidance within workshop if needed)
-
30-minute tech-check and practice-run minimum 1 week before scheduled session, to take any revisions/feedback to be implemented before session (please also ensure you share any pre- and post-meeting materials with us by or before the practice run)
-
Workshops will be recorded and edited to be shared on YouTube, where appropriate (if there are certain group activities that are more personal in nature, we will not share those aspects/will edit those out, but if there is a presentation shared, for example, with an overview of the topic, then we will record and share that portion)
