Acacia Markov

Hello, Bonjour my name is Acacia Markov (she/her), and I currently reside on Wendake-Nionwentsio (Huron-Wendat) land, or within so-called Québec City. I identify as a cis-gendered, neurotypical and able-bodied woman of white settler descent, and I recognize that my personal identity is inextricably tied to my perspectives and experiences in the world. Thus, I want to acknowledge that through my knowledge sharing and contributions to Righting History I do not intend to speak on behalf of Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQAI+ or disabled communities, as I do not have the lived experiences of these people. Rather, I recognize that my privilege gives me the time, space and emotional energy to be actively involved in climate and environmental justice activism. I hope to lessen the load of those burdened by other injustices and dedicate myself to providing accessible knowledge for enhanced awareness of the climate crisis and ties to social justice, in the hope that education can influence action.
