Hayley Brackenridge

Hello, my name is Hayley Brackenridge and my pronouns are she/her. I identify as a white settler of what is currently known as Canada, with mixed European descent. I live in what is currently Guelph Ontario, the territory of Mississauga peoples and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, under Treaty 3, the Between-The-Lakes purchase. I am privileged to have moved here to receive post-secondary education from my hometown of what is currently Millbrook Ontario. This is also Mississauga land, under the 1818 Treaty 20 and later the 1923 Williams Treaty. My experience learning from the Canadian education system has shaped my perspective of Canadian history, but I have had the privilege to unlearn and relearn from the courageously shared stories of people who have been historically silenced. Through my contribution to Righting History, I do not wish to speak for those with experiences that I have not lived, but rather amalgamate their stories in a central space for collective learning.
